Troubleshooting
Please refer to the following list to see if a problem you are experiencing has been seen before:
- I typed in a Clout command, but nothing seemed to happen
- I started Outlook, but the Clout toolbar has not appeared
If you can not find your problem listed here, or are still having problems after trying some of the suggestions below, please contact support using the relevant options on the Help menu.
I typed in a Clout command, but nothing seemed to happen
First, did you press the <Enter> or <Return> key after entering your command? If not, try that first.
Did the command box clear after pressing <Enter>? If so, it is possible that you entered a command for a record that defaults to closing - for example, the default configuration is that when you create Notes, they will save and close automatically. You can override the default in the Options dialog; have you done that for this type of record?
You can also override the default action after entering a command in the command itself. For example; if you enter 'cl' in the command, this will force the record you created to close after it was created.
Finally, check the log for the last command processed by clicking on the Clout Help menu and then clicking on 'Show Last Log'. A dialog will show up showing what command you entered, and how Clout interpreted each part of the command. For any record that is usually sorted by a date or time, you can see the date and time that was used in this log. Using Outlook's normal tools (most often the options down the left side of the screen, for example the 'Calendar', 'Notes' etc) look for your record under the appropriate date.
I started Outlook, but the Clout toolbar has not appeared
Assuming that you have previously installed and used Clout successfully, first check that you have not 'hidden' the Clout toolbar:
- Right-click anywhere on the Outlook toolbar and menu area that does not have a button or menu. A context menu will open showing you the possible toolbars that you can have displayed;
- Ensure that there is a tick / check-mark next to Clout on the list. If there isn't a tick there, click the checkbox and the toolbar should now show up;
- If the Clout entry did not show up in the context menu, please follow the instructions here on finding about Clout's addin status.
