Clout

The Options Dialog Box

The Options dialog box allows you to make several settings on how you would like Clout to work for you.

This page discusses the options on the General tab. See Buying a License to learn about the License tab.

Wherever you see a blue help '?' icon with a yellow bar indicates a tip. Hold you mouse pointer over the image for a second or two to get a reminder of the purpose of that section.

Command Entry Width

The width of the command-entry box on the Clout toolbar can be controlled (within limits) by adjusting the value here.

As you change the value, the box width will change. Make the box the best width to suit your screen size and positioning of the toolbar.

Auto Open Defaults

After Clout creates one of the four main record types for you, it has a choice over whether it should display the appropriate dialog to you:

  • Leaving the appropriate checkbox ticked will open the dialog by default;
  • If the box is clear, that record type will not be displayed after creation.

This default setting can be overriden on the command line.

The option we believe you may want to change is the 'Note' setting. If you find yourself making notes that apply in the short-term, you will probably want to check the relevant box. If you tend to make 'long-term' notes that you want to have available for occasional use, then the default setting for it not to open will possibly suit you best.

Reset Command Bar (toolbar) Locations to Default

If for some reason you can not see the Clout toolbar, consider clicking this button to reset it to it's default position.

However, it is possible that it is not being displayed because of a setting change you have made in Outlook, or due to a problem with the Clout software. We therefore recommend that you look at this troubleshooting entry before trying this.

Leaving the Options Dialog

In line with other Windows software, leaving the Options dialog by clicking Cancel will undo any changes you have made on this page. Leaving by clicking OK will save any changes you made (although the License Code settings use a different mechanism).
